Witchtree Academy, located on Mytheholde, is THE premier magical college. While it’s not the only magical college in the US (others are located at Salem, New Orleans, Sedona, and Seattle), it is the most prestigious. It’s the Ivy League for Mags. Young witches, shifters, and even some Bloodmages come from all over the US to gain the knowledge and abilities to find their place in the magical community.
The famous Witchtree stands in the center of Witchtree Academy. Legend says that in the 1600s, a powerful witch, Elizabeth Dare, locked an evil Bloodmage, Chicamacomico, inside the tree to stop his reign of terror on the magical community. There is an old prophecy that says when his prison begins to weaken, Elizabeth will be reincarnated and the “Reborn” will either save the magical community or destroy it. The legend and the prophecy associated with it have been the source of much study and speculation over the years.
