Because most modern technology (especially if powered by gas/oil) interferes with the use of magic, it is banned on the island of Mytheholde. Instead they favor steam and magic.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
Top left- Steam powered Taxi, Top right- Aether/Magic powered Trolley, Bottom- Steam powered, with just a touch of magic, passenger Ferry (only way to reach Mytheholde from the mainland).
Aether/Magic powered air transport (favored by Witches)
Steam powered ground transport (used by Shifters, NoMags, etc)
Steam powered watercraft (mostly used for recreational purposes)
